Winter Haven

Athol Dickson
2008
Fiction/Suspense/Thriller

Ok I have to start this review out by stating, this is a book you MUST read to the end, otherwise you will be lost, totally!!
Vera Gamble is called from Texas to a remote Maine island to identify her brother, who washed up on a local beach there.  Imagine her dismay when he doesn't look a day older than he did the day he disappeared, thirteen years earlier.  The island is a rather "dark" place, foreboding and frightening to Vera, and the one bright spot on the island is Evan Frost.  However the dark is trying to vanquish that light for her, she feels like she is loosing her mind, she hears voices, and feels like she is constantly being watched.  Smooth black stones are being thrown at her and she is followed everywhere she goes.  She is loosing her grip on reality.  Will she find out what happened to her brother before she completely looses her mind?
Wow, as I said before this book is not a book you can graze through, you have to read it all to get the story.  The story is a bit darker than I usually read but it is a fascinating read.  I couldn't have put this book down if I wanted, I had to find out what happened to Siggy. Great characters, scary and spooky story, a book not for the faint hearted, if you love a good scary book, this is it!! 239 pages US $14.99 4 stars
