Book Two
Laurie Alice Eakes
2012
Fiction/Historical Romance
Cassandra Bainbridge is the middle daughter of Lord Bainbridge. A bit of an intellectual, she is always chasing after studious fads, her latest fad is aeronautics, ballooning. She is a bit of a rebel, knowing her father does not approve of her studies, and she knows that her studies are also under scrutiny by her fiance Geoffrey Giles. When the unexpected death of his brother, makes Geoffrey the Earl of Whitaker, Cassandra is very unsure of whether she wishes to be a countess, and after they are attacked and she is seriously burned, she takes that as a sign that they are not to be together. That however does not stop her from loving him, nor him from loving her. How will this end?
What I liked about this book: This book seemed to have more of a mystery/suspense side to it than most historical novels. The story was very interesting.
What I did not like about this book: The way that the men in this story blackmailed Geoffrey into doing their bidding was really not nice, especially when they were threatening to destroy his mother's reputation.
Over all this story was interesting and kept you reading to the end, to see what happens to everyone involved. A good story that you will want to share with others. 341 pages US $14.99 4 stars
