Courting Cate
The Courtships of Lancaster County 1
Leslie Gould
2012
Fiction/Contemporary
My Review:
Cate Miller has convinced herself she is content with being a maedel, never marrying. She has sacrificed for her younger sister since Betsy was born, and now she is in a position that she would have never dreamed would happen. Her father has basically declared an edict, that Betsy cannot be courted unless Cate is courted, and that Betsy cannot marry unless Cate is married. Cate feels backed into a corner, and Betsy is wailing that Cate is going to ruin her life. Betsy finds a way to convince Cate that she must marry, and it appears Betsy is willing to use whatever means possible, even stretching the truth to make it happen.
What I liked about this book: I loved Cate's personality, she was fiesty. She had been hurt and was very careful about allowing new people into her life, when she learned to love, she did so will her whole being.
What I disliked about this book: Betsy! She was spoiled and was a very unlikable character for me, she manipulated her sister and her friends into doing what she wanted. I found her very irritating!
Conclusion: Overall I loved this book! Cate and Pete made the story, the side stuff with Betsy and Levi and the M & M's were just side stuff, but Cate and Pete stole the show for me. This was a great story, I look forward to more from this series. 341 pages US $14.99 5 stars
