Review | Queen of the Waves by Janice Thompson

My Review:
Jacquie Abingdon is in love.  So much so she and the gardener, hatch up a daring plan to keep her from having to marry a business partner friend of her father's.  Her mother realizes that Jacquie can never marry a man she does not love and arranges to send her to her Grandmother in New York aboard the Titanic.  Jacque and Peter develop the plan further and substitute his sister, Tessa in Jacquie's place, arranging for Iris, Jacquie's maid to go with her.  Tessa goes along with the plan because she is tired of being the brunt of her father's cruelty, and drunkenness.  Once aboard the Titanic, Tessa finds herself falling for a handsome young man named Nathan revealing to him, her true self, but still going by Jacquie's name, will she risk it all by telling him who she really is?  Just the daughter of a poor, lowly pig farmer.  Will they survive the sinking of the mighty ship?
What I liked about this story:  Everything!  I truly loved the fact that Peter worried so much of his sister's plight, he had the thought to arrange this, even knowing he really was unsure of the depth of his love for Jacquie.  I loved the personality of Nathan, he was such a tender person, and a Godly man.  Of course there are the quirky personalities aboard the Titanic, that we know about from historical records, they always make a story fun!
What I did not like about this story:  I hurt for Jacquie when she realized that the love Peter felt for her was not as deep as her love for him.  I also felt the anguish for those who daily checked to see if their relative or loved one had survived.
Conclusion:  This was not just another Titanic story, this was a wonderful story of sacrifice and love.  The love of a brother for his sister, the love of a mother for her daughter.  A must read and a great book!  333 pages US $14.99 4.5 stars
