The Pursuit of Lucy Banning...

What a sweet book!! I totally enjoyed the story of Lucy Banning and her journey into making choices for herself.  Set in the 1890's Lucy is discovering that the education of women just is not important to her parents, nor to the young man she is engaged to.  All they seem to care about is her knowing proper social graces, presenting herself properly as the wife of an up and coming banker.  However Lucy is not sure that is what she wants in life, even though she has known all her life that the families expect her to marry Daniel.  Working at the local orphanage gives Lucy the excuse and the cover of being out of the house several times a week, other than her aunt no one knows one of those days is spent taking a college class.  She has to be careful though, since her brother works at the college.  The arrival of her brother's friend Will, begins shaking up things.  In fact there is an attraction there that many are recognizing, even Lucy herself.
I totally enjoyed this book, and look forward to more of Olivia Newport's writing, the book was well written and did not bore me.  I would recommend this book to my friends easily.  289 pages US $14.99 4 stars.
