The Inn at Shining Waters Book 2
Melody Carlson
Abingdon Press
2012
Fiction/Christian
Anna's daughter Lauren comes home, sick and soon it is apparent that a baby is on the way. A baby that Lauren doesn't want, but these are the days before legal abortions, and her mother was horrified that Lauren would even think of such a thing. However the interference of Lauren's grandmother and the boy's (baby's father) mother, brings about a marriage. A marriage nearly doomed from the start. But it lasts through the childhood of Sarah, their child.
Lauren has definitely lost her way. Anna can see it, but how can she show her daughter the way? She keeps quiet, all the while praying that God will reach and touch Lauren. She also loves her grandchild, Sarah, and shows her that life is more than what she experiences at home with her parents.
I absolutely loved this book, every time I think Melody Carlson has written the best book ever, she tops it!! This one was way over the top and now I cannot wait for the next book in this series. I felt the pain Anna had as she tried to guide her adult daughter, and I could feel the great joy that she took in loving her grand-daughter. Melody has a wonderful talent at helping her readers feel the emotions of her characters. Cannot wait for book three in this series!! 320 pages $US 14.99 5 stars.
