Review | Every Perfect Gift

My review:
Everyone has something to prove.  Sophie Caldwell has come back to Hickory Ridge, Tennessee, to prove that she is more than just an orphan that no one wants.  Buying a closed newspaper, and turning it into a success is her dream.  Ethan Heyward has built a beautiful resort in the hills of Tennessee, already being toted as the Saratoga of the South, Blue Smoke the new resort will be the place to be for anyone who is anyone.  However there is more to the picture than a beautiful resort, and a girl returned home to prove herself.  Ethan has a past that he does not want to share, and a chance visitor from his past threatens to blow his future up in his face.  Sophie wants a family, that is all she has ever wanted her whole life, a family of her own.  Will they each face their own past and move forward into the future?
I enjoyed this book, the characters in this book were very entertaining and believable.  I especially like the character of Sophie, and her friend Gillie.  Making their way in a setting not ready for independent strong women.  It was very interesting to see the newspaper business from this inside view.  All in all, a great story told by a very talented author.  4 stars 320 pages US $15.99 Thomas Nelson Publishers.

About Every Perfect Gift:

Book 3 in Dorothy Love's Hickory Ridge Romance series.
Ethan and Sophie long to share a future together. But the secrets they're not sharing could tear them apart.
Sophie Caldwell has returned to Hickory Ridge, Tennessee, after years away. Despite the heartaches of her childhood, Sophie is determined to make a home, and a name, for herself in the growing town. A gifted writer, she plans to resurrect the local newspaper that so enchanted her as a girl.
Ethan Heyward's idyllic childhood was shattered by a tragedy he has spent years trying to forget. An accomplished businessman and architect, he has built a majestic resort in the mountains above Hickory Ridge, drawing wealthy tourists from all over the country.
When Sophie interviews Ethan for the paper, he is impressed with her intelligence and astounded by her beauty. She's equally intrigued but fears he will reject her if he learns about her shadowed past. Just as she summons the courage to tell him, Ethan's own past unexpectedly and violently catches up with him, threatening not only his life but their budding romance.
