In Every Heartbeat will take us into the lives of three young people, Libby, Pete, and Bennett, were all great friends and grew up in an orphanage school together.  Even though Pete wasn't an orphan, his parents had put him out when he was only a small boy, to take care of himself.  Now they have grown up and are off to university, each with a different course of study, but each one of them determined to succeed.
Libby is a headstrong young woman determined to be a writer, Pete is called to the ministry, and Bennett is not sure what he wants to do, he just knows he had a need to be accepted, they all do.  Finding their own way at college and discovering more about themselves, Libby and Pete know they are in love with each other, but Libby also understands that she would never be a good minister's wife.
A series of events unfold, that brings about a tragic shooting of a dear friend, which leads Libby to find God and to realize all she ever was looking for was in God.  Pete makes amends with his past and with his family.
