This was a great first historical novel. Caryl McAdoo has a great skill of making characters very realistic. There were times in this story I wanted to shake some sense and common decency into Susannah. Her anger and quick temper often led her into not listening when she would have been better off to listen. A great story. I loved Henry, he was so easy going, and did a great job of not letting a hot tempered woman drive him crazy. A great story, looking forward to the next in the series. 4 stars for this historical novel.
