We are back at Stoney Ridge, Amos Lapp has had a heart transplant, receiving his son Menno's heart after Menno died in a horrible accident. Julia has moved to Ohio after marrying Roman Troyer, the Beeman. Sadie has been in Ohio with them for the past four months, helping them settle into their home, but also working with a local healing woman, learning more about herbs and how they can help people.
On her way home, something happens that is unexpected and rather mysterious. Sadie was waiting during a layover and fell asleep and when she woke up there was a basket at her feet with a baby in it. She was unsure what to do, but knew that she had to get on the bus and get home, so she brought the baby with her.
Rumors start flying after Sadie's younger sister M.K. blurts out to people that Sadie is home and she has a baby with her. Sadie is hurt, and angry that people who she thought loved her and were her friends are suddenly snubbing her.
Will Stoltz has been banned, oh not from the Amish, but from his home. His father, angry at what he views as a stupid stunt, basically kicks Will out, declaring he has to work with a game warden all summer, and learn how to work hard, before he will consider paying for Will's last semester of school. However that is not the whole story, Will also was caught driving under the influence and the lawyer he hired in the middle of the night, has turned out to be a crook and he is trying to force Will to do something illegal.
This story is a contemporary romance, but there is quite a bit of a mysterious element in it, which I loved, since I am a huge suspense fan. A great story! I loved the book and greatly look forward to the next book in this series! 307 pages US $14.99 5 stars
