CBR Review:
Laura Frantz once again reveals her expertise in sharing a story from the 18th century with such historical accuracy.  Set in Kentucke, the story of beautiful Roxanne Rowan unfolds.  Traveling from her home in Virginia after being cast aside by her fiance, her only thought is to get to her father at Fort Endeavor.  His service in the military was nearing an end and she hoped to surprise him, by arriving unannounced. Instead she is devastated to find he is not there, but out on a winter campaign.  The arrival of the returning soldiers from the campaign do not bring her father home to the fort, instead Roxanne's devastation deepens as she finds out her father was killed in the campaign.  What she will do and how she will survive and support herself is beyond her grasp to try to understand, she only knows that at the moment due to the hostilities of the Indians and the British, she cannot leave Fort Endeavor.
A wonderful story, written in true Laura Frantz style, clear concise and interesting.  While staying true to the historical period, she doesn't get bogged down by history.  A great story you will not want to miss.  A story I easily give a 4 star rating!   406 pages US $14.99
