i love the amish lifestyle, the way they do everything together and the technology of the modern world does not interfere with their time together. i recently had a near fatal brain anurysim and my 36 year old daughter who lived over 8 yours awya quit her job and moved in to take care of me. trhagically she died in my arms from an unknown blood clot. she is the one who got me started reading amish fiction. i have not read any of these and would love to win babscorbitt@yahoo.com

I became very interested in what might be described as "America's subculture" when I moved from Arkansas (which is predominately protestant Christian) to Idaho (which is predominately LDS [Mormon]. The experiences of the pioneers and the simplified life, particularly during the early days of their settlement has left a fascinating legacy of historical records and particularly recipes (both for living and baking). I am very interested in this series of books. I might even shove aside some of the 30 others that I have on the "ready to go" shelf and read one or more of these as a break from medical and/or social research.
I've read lots of Amish fiction, but amazingly, none of these books. So,,,I'm hoping I win!
