This story continues where The Unfinished Gift left off. However the book will stand alone without reading the first book. Shawn Collins has come home from the war, barely escaping with his life, after nearly being shot down by the Germans. Faced with a life without his darling wife, Shawn is not sure what he is going to do. How will he take care of his son, without his wife? After being reassigned to the War Bond Tour, he decides hiring a nanny is the way to take care of his son, and to help his dad out too. He hires Katherine Townsend, the lady who worked for the Child Services Agency, that had stepped in when Elizabeth died. His son Patrick was already attached to her, so it seems to be good fit for them all. Or is it? Will her age and looks cause everyone to think they are a couple. Major Shawn Collins cannot abide that thought, he is grieving so deeply for his wife Elizabeth.
This book was a wonderfully written story, I could not put it down. I loved the first book and this one was just as wonderful. Most definitely books I will keep in my permanent library. 310 pages $14.99 US 5 stars
